●Why did you want to study abroad in Japan? / なぜ日本に留学しようと思ったのですか。
Because I am interested in Japan and Japanese culture. I am also studying Japanese language and linguistics, so I figured that the best way to improve would be to learn and speak the language in its natural environment.
日本と日本の文化に興味があったからです。また日本言語学を勉強しているので、自然な環境の中で勉強したり話したりすることが上達する一番の方法だと思いました。
●Why did you choose Tokushima University for your studying abroad? / 徳島大学を選んだ理由は何ですか。
My university (Lund University) had an exchange agreement with Tokushima University. I did not know much about Tokushima at the time, but it seemed like a nice place with good university.
私の大学（ルンド大学）と徳島大学に交換留学の協定締結があったからです。当時は徳島のことについてあまり知りませんでしたが、良い大学がある素敵なところだと思います。
●What subject have you been studying in your home university? / 自国では何を勉強していましたか。
Japanese language / 日本語です。
●How did you prepare for studying abroad in Japan? / 日本留学に向けてどのような準備をしましたか。
I didn’t really do any specific preparations, although I read about Tokushima and the university on the university’s webpage and contact my senior to ask for advice and such.
特別な準備はしなかったですが、徳島大学のHPで徳島や大学について調べたり、私の先輩に相談したりしました。
●How was your experience in Tokushima? For example, was there anything that surprised you? / 徳島に来てどうでしたか。例えば、驚いたことはありますか。
My experience in Tokushima was fantastic all year round. As for things that surprised me, the Awa Odori and Machi Asobi festivals turned the otherwise quiet town into a lively metropolis. I loved both sides of Tokushima and I’m happy I got to experience them during my time there.
徳島での経験は一年を通して素晴らしいものでした。阿波踊りやマチアソビの時期になると静かな町から活気ある都市のように変わるので驚きました。どちらの徳島も大好きで、私の留学中に両方を体験できて本当に良かったです。
●Have you used the Culture Lounge while you are in Tokushima University? What are your impressions of the Culture Lounge? / 徳島大学ではカルチャー・ラウンジは利用しましたか。また、利用してどうでしたか。
I used the Culture Lounge a lot and I often stayed there between classes or after school. I loved it there. It’s a great way to meet new friends, teachers or just relax for a while. Everyone there was nice and the facilities were top notch.
カルチャー・ラウンジは授業の合間や放課後など頻繁に利用しました。新しい友達や先生に会えるし、少しリラックスしたいときなどにとても良かったです。カルチャー・ラウンジにいる人はみんないい人で施設環境も十分でした。
●How was your experience of taking courses in Tokushima University? / 徳島大学での勉強（受講）はどうでしたか。
I enjoyed the courses. The teachers were all really great and the subjects were interesting.
楽しんで受講できました。先生方は皆さん素晴らしく、受講科目も興味深かったです。
●Are there any big differences with student life in Tokushima and the country where your university is? / 学生生活について、日本と自国とでは大きな違いがありますか。
Studies work somewhat differently in that most students usually choose programs rather than individual classes to study. On one hand it’s more focused, but on the other it’s also less free. Extracurricular activities such as circles don’t really exist in the same way either. Such things are left to the individual. When coming to Japan, I decided to enjoy these differences to the fullest extent.
通常、多くの学生が個々に（興味ある）授業を受けるというよりもコースに沿ったプログラムを選択しているという点で受講の仕方が違っています。より集中型ですが、一方では自由が利かなくなります。課外活動についても日本と自国では在り方が異なり、個々に任されている感じがします。日本に来るとき、私はこれらの違いを最大限に楽しもうと決めていました。
●What did you get an impact out of the most in your life of Japan or Tokushima? / 日本（徳島）での生活で一番印象深いものは何ですか。
What impact me the most was how nice everyone was. Teachers, school staff, students and everyone living in Tokushima were all really great people and it made the whole experience even better.
一番印象深かったものは、皆さんがすごくいい人だったことです。先生・大学スタッフ・学生の皆さんやそして徳島にいる方全員が本当にすばらしく、私の経験をさらに良いものにしてくれました。
●What is your goal in the future? / 将来の目標は何ですか。
I would like o return to Japan after graduating in Sweden. Hopefully I’ll be able to either study or find employment there. If possible, I would like to be a translator.
スウェーデンで卒業後、日本に戻ってきたいです。できれば勉強か仕事を見つけたいと思っていて、可能なら通訳士になりたいです。
●Could you leave advice to students who want to study abroad in the future? / 留学を考えている学生に向けてアドバイスをお願いします。
First of all, do it! You won’t regret it. Also don’t be afraid to take on new challenges and try out things you haven’t.
第一に「Do it!」。きっと後悔はしません。そして初めての事に対して恐れずチャレンジしてください。
